Show me the Research
This is the birth of a revolution in changing how we think about human consciousness, preventative medicine, healing and mental health.
Researchers are discovering that there is so much more to nervous system regulation than we ever could have imagined possible.
What is your nervous system capable of?
How are the nervous system, adaptation, mental focus and emotional regulation connected?
Is human behavior, physical health, and stress inter-dependent?
The Senzon et al. (2016) study discusses NetworkSpinal specifically and aims to show that indeed there is an electromagnetic and mechanical wave in the spine that is unrelated to locomotion and mathematically resembles a Central Pattern Generator. There are three different phases of care during a NetworkSpinal entrainment and the study showed increasingly organized and more predictable neural circuitry at advanced levels of care.
The wave arises from specific gentle contacts made on the area within the meningeal attachments of the spinal cord to the vertebral column.
NetworkSpinal utilizes a clinical analysis system that identifies 5 types of adverse mechanical spinal cord tension that are shown to have typical areas of defense and tension along with decreased while other areas of the spine have ease. Those defense postures lead to a nonadaptable state and is not efficiently using the body’s energy for constructive change and adaptability.
It is hypothesized that the energy released in the body from the spinal cord tension in the defensive postures may be utilized as energy to create higher order spinal and neural integrity and a more organized nervous system.
This in turn may create more adaptable stability that can carry over into life, with more self-regulation and more coherence.
The Shuster et al. (2004) is by far the most broad study conducted about NetworkSpinal. This was a cross-sectional self-administered survey study of 2,596 patients from 156 NetworkSpinal doctors offices with a 69% response rate. There were difference scores for “presently” and “before Network”. Variables of age, gender, income, marital status, ailments, life change, and trauma were used in the structural equation for the study. The health changes looked at were diet, health practices, stress, life enjoyment and change in lifestyle practices. The studies showed apositive relationship between self-reported improvements in wellness and lifestyle improvements.
Kent (2018) expanded on earlier NetworkSpinal research by exploring the connection between nervous system function, behavior, and overall well-being through the lens of Polyvagal Theory. Kent reviewed evidence suggesting that physiological state and psychological experience are deeply interconnected.
Polyvagal Theory proposes that the autonomic nervous system influences far more than heart rate and stress responses. It may also affect emotional regulation, social engagement, communication, attention, and the ability to adapt to life's challenges. Research has shown that reduced vagal regulation and increased sympathetic activation are often associated with stress-related, behavioral, and psychiatric difficulties.
Kent suggests that the neural networks involved in health, growth, and restoration influence both mind and body, supporting the idea that human behavior, stress, and physical health are interconnected rather than separate processes. Higher levels of vagal regulation have been associated with improved attention, cognitive flexibility, emotional regulation, and awareness of internal bodily states. While this work provides a theoretical framework for understanding how interventions that influence nervous system regulation may contribute to improvements in well-being, resilience, and quality of life.
